Many Web Masters are urgent to get their website out there, and most of all, make money. Learn a few tips on how to settle down and focus on your content.
- Don’t check your search engine rankings every day. Personally, I spend a lot of time fretting over what my search engine rankings are. The truth of the matter is that every minute that you spend actually working on your website is better spent that a minute observing your search engine rankings. Of course, you should check your search engine rankings every once in a while. Content will bring users to your website faster than search engine rankings, and will improve your search engine ranking in the long run.
- Set goals for yourself. If you are running a blog, set goals for yourself such as: “Finish two articles on Search Engine Optimization by Friday”, or “Finish my contact page by Wednesday”. This seems like it is unnecessary, but it will help you build content quicker and keep on track.
- Make a name for yourself first. Don’t go around and find random forums to post your link on. It will help to start posting on the forum before even mentioning your website, although it would be acceptable to put a link in your signature or similar. Start posting, and actually help people. This will help you learn more about your niche and make a name for yourself. When the time is right, introduce your website. The people that you have helped will be interested and will visit your website.
- Take it easy. Don’t over stress about your website. A website should be something that is looked at as art, not as work. If your website has any imperfections, fix them because you are proud of your site, not because you want to make money. This will motivate you to keep going, and with time (and patience!) your website will become a popular one.
