While talking (and by talking I mean arguing) with a user on IRC, I came across the question: How do you define the web? More specifically, do you define the web as the software (websites and such) on the web, or the wetware (users) on the web.
This isn’t an easy question. It’s actually very confusing. First, you must understand the difference between software and wetware. Applications on the internet fall under software. This includes websites, social networks, etc. The people who use these setups are called wetware.
The user on IRC and I were talking about change on the web. He was saying that change on the web can be seen by looking at the different websites (software) on the web. I disagreed. I believe that change on the web is shown by the users, and how they use the web. There will always be Web 1.0, Web 2.0, and Web 3.0 elements on the web, but it depends on how users use them.
