Goals For This Week

In order to keep organized, I am going to post a few things that I plan to achieve each week. Hopefully, by the end of the week I’ll be able to do a recap of what I accomplished.

As with many posts similar to this one, I’m going to be organizing things according to site.

  • New design: This is one of my top priorities. I liked the old design that I had up here, but I knew that I would soon need to change it. Putting up the current design (a free one from WordPress.org) is my method of forcing myself to make the site look better and do a full redesign.
  • Complete and detailed portfolio: The main purpose of this website is going to showcase what I have done in the past, so I definitely need to make it do that as soon as possible. Right now, my portfolio, about, and contact pages are all empty. You should start to see content there soon.
  • Ideas about new content: I’ll be moving all my web development notes to the blog at CodeQuarry (we’ll talk more about that under that sites section), but I still plan on updating this blog. I may change the focus of the site (and overall design) to showcase my portfolio more so than the blog, but that doesn’t mean that its not important. I’m considering just having personal posts like this on it, but I’m unsure if that would be interesting or worth posting.

codequarry.net

  • New design: As with gulati.info, the design of codequarry.net has to go. I think that I’m going to be posting a lot about the design process of the new site on the site’s blog, so check that for updates very soon.
  • New branding: The reason why I am moving to codequarry.net rather than staying here is that I plan on reinventing the way that I approach online work. Rather than being a single person, I plan on approaching it as a company or group under the name of CodeQuarry. I still haven’t fully though out how this is going to work, but I’ll definitely be talking about it more in the future.
  • Convert old content: My plan for the initial content of the blog at codequarry.net is to convert all of the old (but popular) content on this blog. Here’s a few posts that definitely will be converted:
    1. Google Translate: PHP API
    2. Using the WP Super Cache Plugin
    3. Deleting A Feedburner Feed Item
    4. Many Ways to Integrate HTML into PHP (maybe not as first, but I may create a series of similar topics)
    5. Redirection Plugin and Regexes
    6. Using the Redirection Plugin
    7. Using the HeadSpace2 Plugin

Basically, these are a few of my most popular posts that also yielded a lot of comments/questions. I plan on rewriting these in order to make them better and then redirecting the location of the old posts to those of the new posts.

  • Hiatus for now: This is the only other project of mine that still requires a lot of work but is too large to just abandon. I’m putting it off for now, though. Once I get things up and running, I’ll definitely finish it up and then decide what to do with it.

In addition to these three projects, I’ll be cleaning up older projects that may have started to have problems recently in order to put them into my portfolio. Stay tuned to see what I can get together.
